Hi,
I am inserting captions for diagrams in a MS word doc. I am calling them figure 1, figure 2 figure 3 etc. I am then inserting cross references to refer to them.
However if I need to insert a figure between figure two existing figures e.g. a new figure between 2 and figure 3, I have then renumber figure 3.
I would prefer to use some sort of incrementing variable. Call my figures X, and then word would fill in the X.
Anybody know how to do this?
Cheers

When you insert a caption, by default it uses an incrementing sequence. If you don't have one it is because you are overriding it. Easiest thing is just to use what you're given.

Enjoy,
Tony
