How do i add an account to windows SUS to enable other admins to log in the sus screen? I need to log into the sus but the admin who normally deals with the update is away on vacation. help

Any domain admin credential should work, provided the WSUS server is in a domain (unless there was some wierd access rights given). Otherwise, you'll need to access the server anyways and give permissions in IIS to the web instance.

Hope This Helps,

Good Luck!

i have an admin account but when i try to log in im getting a blanc page

So, you're being authenticated? You're not seeing an access denied page or anything? Are you logging in from the WSUS server, or from some other workstation?

Are you receiving any security events or errors on the WSUS box event logs?

If you login to the WSUS server locally and go to IIS, can you run the site from there?

Hope This Helps,

Good Luck!

im loggin in from a different server i want to update my new serveer with msupdates

i logged in with an admin account and in iis it says i dont have rights to see the page

Just to verify your trying to browse the correct directy. Is IIS you need to browse the WSUSAdmin directory.

ok. i can see it but i want to access it from my newserver so i can deploy the update to the new machine

Good, you can see it. It doesn't matter where you access the WSUS web console from. You can deploy updates to any box that is pointing at it. I suppose you can access it locally via IIS until your systems administrator gets back into town.

Hope This Helps,

Good Luck!

ok. but im acessing the sus server(ip 10.10.10.1) locally how do i tell it to update the other server(ip 10.10.10.3)?

Approve updates for that particular server. I don't know how you have your WSUS setup. You may have groups, or everything is in All Computers. Or maybe you implement Client-Side Targeting. What is the schedule? Do the update auto-install and reboot if necessary?

I think it may be best to read up on it so you have an understanding of WSUS and how it works.

Hope This Helps,

Good Luck!
