MS Software Update Services W/O Microsoft Client?

Hi:

We've been researching using MS SUS to send updates to our client machines (Win2000 Pro SP3), but we have a problem.

The The Update Client will not run successfully without the Workstation service installed. And the Workstation service is installed as part of the Client for Microsoft Networks.

We only install the Novell client on our desktops, so to increase security, we don't install the Microsoft Client.

Question: Is there any way to install the Workstation Service without installing the full Client for Microsoft Networks?
