MS Exchange hogs Outlook Express functions?

I mainly use Outlook Express (version 6) on my pc. However I installed MS Outlook to interface with my Exchange server at work when I feel like remotely accessing it (via VPN). Problem is, as I go on and try to do ordinary functions in OE such as import/export or even forward a post from a newsgroup to an individual user, I get prompted for a profile to use.

The only profile available in the drop-down menu is titled 'Outlook' and I'm certain that this is some integration with MS Outlook since when I play along and choose that profile I get an error message saying that my MAPI store could not be opened (I presume this is because I'm not dialed in through VPN).

Anyhow, all I want to be able to do is work in OE separately. I don't want any integration or relationships with MS Outlook. How can I isolate this relationship and remove it?
