MS Backup:over-written dataset

hi all,
I've run MSBackup then I ran an incremental and the question popped up 'overwrite existing dataset?' (or similar).

I said yes. D'OH

The .QIC file is still large but only the updated files are now shown.

So in effect it looks like the incremental deleted the file index. I'm hoping the files are still there.

How do I extract them?

Win98SE MSBackup 4.??
I've reformatted & reinstalled, so undelete is not an option.
