Hello,

I was working on a Access DB yesterday night from homem, everything seemed to be working fine. When I got into work today and opened the file and clicked on a form and do the same operation, the DB file just closes. I can see there is a ldb file in the same directory assuming there is a lock on the file.

Would anyone know why this is happening? on the first thought I am thinking it might be because of 2 different versions of access. I think I was using 2002 at home and 2000 at work, but regardless of the versions some other reports are working fine but certain reports are causing that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Hi

ldb file should only be there when you have database open

It (ldb file) can get left there if system crashes etc, in which case just delete teh ldb file Access will recreate it when it needs it

...Instead of deleting it, move the file to another location.

You may want to open your database in a "shared" - from the Menu, "Tools" -> "Options" -> "Advanced" tab

I am having the exact same problem. I have Access 2002 at home on an XP system. At work I have 2000 on a 2000 system. What would be causing the database to crash? At home the database works great. At work, the database crashes (when command buttons are pushed that manipulate reports and email.) It does not seem to be a referencing problem. (there are none missing.) Any ideas would be appreciated.

TIA

Hmmmm
Access 2002 at home on an XP system.
At work I have 2000

Access 2002 will work with Access 2000, but there appear to be some differences. From the menu, select "Tools" -> "Database Utilities" -> "Convert Database". If your Home version on XP shows "To Access 2002" as greyed out and "To Access 2000" as a viable selection, then you are running an Access 2002 database which is going to give Access 2000 some hiccups. (BUT make sure you make a backup copy of your database before trying to convert your database to Access 2000!!)

Also, are you using DAO, or another library that is loaded at home but not at work. From the menu, "Tool" -> "Macro" -> "Visual Basic Editor". Then click on "Tools" -> "References". Compare the references at home vs at work. You may have to add something like "Microsoft DAO 3.6 Object Library".

So I figured out a solution to the problem. It had nothing to do with the two versions of Access. It had to do with a graphic image from a word document that I was using in a report. For some reason, the image worked fine in Access 2002, which is where I built the report. When I went back to Access 2000 though, the image caused it to lock up. Once I removed the image, the database worked fine. I have not yet tried to insert another image. It may not be necessary.
