MPS3.0 and Shadowing

I have just installed MPS3.0, fresh installs, on 8 terminal 2000 advanced servers. I also installed the hotfix after the installs. Now shadowing doesn't seem to work. I did read that this might happen but we are not having any of the same symptoms described.

I am able to start the shadowing bar, list the users, add the user to shadow. It will prompt me to login to the shadowing session, then the screen will just disappear. There are no event viewer logs created. Nothing to tell me what is going on. It just disappears.

My VPs are anxious to get this feature back since they had it with XPE fr2. What might be causing this and how can I fix it?

TIA!!!!

What shadowing have you got configured in the CMC ?

Not sure what you mean by what shadowing??? but upon installation of the citrix servers, i enabled shadowing. I am tring to access it though from the CMC and from the shadowing menu option and neither work. They both do the same thing. The screen just disappears reporting no errors. Logging is not enabled.

Do your users have to grant permission BEFORE you can Shadow? (I believe this is the question Scott is asking you, but it's early and I haven't had my caffeine yet...)

The only ones that are trying thus far are domain admins which have permission to do this, but I also created a policy for shadowing and added all of us and it still does this same thing. I think I need coffee also :)

I came across this funny once before and couldn't understand why it just wouldn't work. On the box you want to do the shadowing from you have to have the ICA client on it.

The ICA client was installed on all of my citrix servers. Any other ideas?

No the client needs to be on the shadowers PC.

oh it is. Thanks. Let me explain the situation just a little more.

On the terminal server itself, I will click the shadow menu button and the bar will appear at the top of the window. I click on the shadow button and expand users and can see all of my current users in a session. I will add a user to shadow, his pc menu will appear at the top of the screen and it will prompt me to login to that machine that I wish to shadow (just like before), but after it authenticates is when the screen just disappears.

I hope that helps a little more.

Hmmmm, I was understanding the issue before.

Anyways, do you require acceptance from the shadowee ?

What is the screen res of the console. I always think it is a bad idea to do shdow from console. Remember your res must be greater than or equal to the res on the shadowee.

Ok. I wouldn't have thought about resolution conflicts. The clients have those new flat screens and are using 1024 x 728. I believe our servers are using 800 x 600. I will check that right now to be sure, but I must say.... you are awesome! I do not know why that didn't cross my mind.

probably not the answer tho, I would have thought it would have told you that the resolution was not right. But it does look like something silly.
