Several years ago I had a collection of (someone's) home movies that would play on some systems (around the Win98 era) but not on others..

These same movies I cannot play at all anymore on any system I have.. Win M.E. or XP.

I've tried various players but no go..

They show in Dos as *.mpeg

Is there any way to determine what they were made on ( I would expect, converted), or, is there a way to get them running??

I wont ask what sort of "Home Movies" they are!! :)

I think that you maybe missing a video codec for Windows Media Player or if you have one installed it is not working

I think your best bet would be to google for "MPEG Codec"

This should give you some results from which you can download the latest codec

Thanks... they are quite "acceptable". short clips showing some Norwegian guys crashing a variety of r.c. model airplanes..
I've added all the codecs I can for mpeg... still no go.. if I hadn't seen them all (about 25 ) in past times I'd suspect the file quality..

SOMETHING was able to run them.. problem is.. what??
