MP3s in 6.5

Has anyone been able to figure out how to save audio projects as MP3s? In the help area, it says you can use "Save to web" options to do this, but that was through CLEANER in 6.0. I can't seem to figure it out in 6.5. Any help?

Hi Boonedoggle - I am still learning Premiere 6.5, but what happens if you treat a .wav file just like an .avi or other video file with audio, and go into the production/save menu which includes mpeg choices, vdc, etc. Does it not include mp3? Do you know Syntrillium Cool Edit - a sound editing program? Data Becker, another audio program, may not permit saving as mp3, but CoolEdit (I believe?) does. Post your findings.

I havent tried saving as Mp3 from Premier 6.5 but heres my un-expert suggestion.

I am sure you could save it a wav file f Premier 6.5. Maybe you could use a mp3 encoder to convert it into mp3s.

I use this to do general conversion from wav to mp3. It supports variable bit rates and I think its preety much simple to use.

Yep...seems like the technology is being focused on DVD and VCD creations, instead of simple MP3 conversions, like in 6.0. Oh well, that's what I've done, I've used the Adobe MPEG encoder to save a single audio track as a .wav. Normall, when you save a video and audio track as a DVD, it separates the video and audio track enabling you to save the audio portion as a wav instead of an avi. I was able to use the wav file, so the mp3 wasn't necessary this time. I will take your advice. thanks alot!
