I have been experimenting with playing MP3 files from within a Fox project. I am using multiple instances of Winamp to play the MP3`s and the files play OK. I am having problems passing some of the parameters to the Winamp program due to restrictions of Foxpro`s parameter passing. Does anyone know of an alternative method of controlling and playing MP3 file, other than Winamp?

Hi keith,
Please Look into this sample. The function used can play MIDI, MP3, WAV and many more sound files.
...\Samples\Vfp98\Solution\Forms\mci_play.scx

If you find any problem, let us know.

Thanks for the info.
Does this function support multiple instances?
Using Winamp I can have many MP3`s loaded and ready to play.
I need to have an MP3 playing and at least 1 more file ready to play straight away ie. without a load time.
If it supports multiples then I`ll look into it a bit further.
Once again thanks for the help.
Keith

Hi Keith,
Yes multiple instances are supported. But as the media device is not supported for threading, you can play only one instance at a time.
And i suggest you to check about the end of current file play and then start the next file. This will do your task without starting multiple instances.

Thanks again.
I need the next file to start playing without a gap. I assume that the next file couldn`t be loaded before the previous file has stopped playing.

Yep! Whatever time it will take to load a file it is going to take. And in that time you will definetely have to wait.
