MP3 Audio Codec for Divx AVI's

Can someone please tell me if there is a way to work with Divx audio (mpeg layer 3 compression) in Premiere? I can play the source file and hear the audio, but cannot preview audio. Furthermore, audio does not show up on exported files of any type. I have WinAmp on my computer...is there a way to integrate the codec into Premiere? I would REEEEAAALLLY appreciate any responses...or let me know if you have the same problem. THANKS!
