If I move to SP 6 for VB6 and create a new executable (I was using SP5), can I send out that executable as an update to clients whose application was originally created with SP5?

If not, do I need to re-ship to everyone using the app so that they may have the upgrade?

Thanks for any advice on this? David Abineri

I don't think you're gone to have problems, unless you use a SP6 only feature, or a new property.
But if you don't upgrade the client's machine SP you won't get the bug's fix that comes in SP6

Hope this helps,
David.

SP6 has some newer versions of files that VB will and/or might use. But this should only affect future releases of your product. There is no need to send any updates to existing installations. Ther are using the versions of the files that the exe expects and things are working as expected.

When you do send an update remember to send an entire setup package, with the newer files, and don't just send the new exe.
