Is there any way in MS Office 2002 to move the Vertical Scroll Bar from the right side of the screen to the left side of the screen?

No - not possible. You can use a scrolling mouse and do away with the vertical scroll bar (in fact if you get a newer 4-way scrolling mouse you could remove both scroll bars)but their position is hard programmed into Office.

Actually, it *is* possible.

If you have support for a right-to-left language installed (Start > All Programs > Office > Office Tools > Language Settings) you will have an option under Tools > Options to switch the vertical scroll bar and vertical ruler (actually they are two different settings but switching one forces the other to switch). One side effect of this is that you will have grey marks at the corners of each page showing the margins - they don't affect anything but seem to irritate many people.

Enjoy,
Tony

I didn't mention the right to left option because I was under the impression it did other changes that would be unwelcome for a standard left to right user? One such change I seem to remember (as well as the 'crop marks') is that the ruler displays character units and won't display inches, centimetres or picas. I'm sure that there are other strange anomalies too. Is it possible to live with right to left support installed and the scroll bar moved?

Hi tf1,

As far as I'm aware, the crop marks are the only effect that can't be cleared. I don't have RtL set up at the moment but have had in the past and not had any probems that I can recall. I'll try and check it out later.

I must say, I can imagine that a left handed user might like the scrollbar on the left and I can't see why it shouldn't be available all the time as Word clearly has the capacity.

Enjoy,
Tony
