Hello,

I would like to know if anyone in this forum has moved a Symposium server and what procedures/steps need to be in place before doing so.

I realize that the SCCS server VLAN will have to have a data connection.

Plus, the IP address for the server will need another port for the ethernet connection VLAN as well as input the default gateway....

Should I back-up SCCS as well? I have heard that backing the server up is a good idea before hand. If yes, how do I do I back the server up? Am I forgetting something???? Any input appreciated...Just want to put together some kind of list of steps before this happens in case of downtime (knock on wood).

Thanks!

Moving the SCCS server is the same as moving any server. Step 1 BACKUP. There should be a backup performed regularly anyway but always do a full backup before any major change. Moving is a major change.

From your network team get the new IP addresses they want you to use before you move the kit. Mak a note of the original ones.

It is then simply a case of closing Symposium down and switching off.

When you get to the new location enter the new IP address, re-boot ( I always do wit MS). Symposium should start without any problem. From a client machine go to the SMI enter any new details you need to connect (ie new ip address) and check that all has been acquired.

Have fun.

After changing the IP address check the configuration of the server (Start | Run | nbconfig) for the correct address.

All,
How do I perform a full backup of my SCCS server??

Thanks-NS
