Moving mailboxes from one store to another

I have successfully moved several email accounts from one store to another.

However, I have to manually change the Exchange server settings from the old store to the new store before Outlook will connect. I thought these settings would change automatically to point to the new store.

Any advice?

Well, uh, you already gave the answer, change the settings...

My point being...aren't these settings supposed to change automatically? It's really inconvenient to change mailbox settings on 130 computers.

No, I mean on the server of course.
Outlook does not know where the store is, Exchange handles that.
Don't forget to restart the services of course ;-)

Apparently it just takes time for the settings to change.

Marc, in my environment, I have a local exchange server, and an exchange server located across the WAN. I was moving mailboxes one to the other, and wanted the exchange server settings to update dynamically in Outlook's setting. Apparently, it just takes a little time.

That's why I mentioned restarting the services, then you have the immediate effect.

Sorry Marc, I am a novice at Exchange, and require just a bit more detailed explanation. Thanks for your assistance.

Weel, it is really simple, whatever major impact change you make, when you manually restart the Exchange Services, changes are applied immediatelly, a few exceptions aside.
Start with the System Attendant, which will tell you it restarts depending services too.
In your case, the Store service definitively needed a restart.
