Hi all,

I have a server which is going to die any day now. I am in the process of setting up a new server. My new server is on the domain as a Domain Controller.

I will be installing Exchange on this server and then I want to move the users Mailboxes from the dieing server to the new one.

Is the following correct?

Install Exchange on the new server (as a Member Exchange server, how do I do this?)
Configure Exchange with the default recipient polices & connector settings (do I need to do this or does installing it as a Member Exchange server pick these settings up?)
Move the user mailboxes from the one server to the other (do I have to create the users mailbox on the member server first?)
When they are all moved then set the Member Server as the Primary server

Can anyone advise me in the steps involved in this process?

How does it work with the user profiles? Obviously their Mail profiles are set to point to the Exchange server on the old server?

Thanks.

1. "Install Exchange on the new server (as a Member Exchange server, how do I do this?)" Don't install on a DC.

2. "Configure Exchange with the default recipient polices & connector settings" Same site? should pick up the policies. DO you have any connectors with bridgeheads specified?

3. "Move the user mailboxes from the one server to the other " Use the move mailbox wizard.

4. You lost me. Transfer the system folders etc, then back the old server out. Process details in
