I have a winnt4.0 domain. I want to move to win2003 Active Directory domain with the same name (that is nt4.0 domain name "prank" to 2003 domain name "prank"). How can I achive that without any hitch. What I have done is, run dcpro on the 2003 server and create a new AD domain with the name "prank" as the PDC domain. But I took the 2003 AD off line so that there would not be any collision. Where do I go from here.
Please advise me
thanks.

I don't think there shaould be an issue unless you have maintained the naming of your servers so you'd get duplicate names in your DNS.

If you're worried, make sure your new server isn't running any services that your old one is i,e, DHCP. Then when everyone has gone home plug the new servers into you network watch out for which IP's you assign to avoid duplicates. And see if anything goes screwy.

Install exchange, runing the forest and dom preps then all you should need to do is create a trust between the two domains, use the ADC to create the accounts and transfer the mailboxes.

Simple as that unless you're trying to do something fancy!

Tell me something? If I already created a new ADC. would that put a dent in the situation? How do I demote a ADC and transfer FSMO roles? And would it afect my exchange 5.5 that is on a nother server(not a domain controler)
