I have been looking at moving from 2.1 to 3.1 but as I have 20 series (DT Phones) this is a little difficult and costly. I am not sure what benefits this will give me. Currently I have 3 x DT units on a 412 with about 60 Digital phones, some phone (Alog) units, s08 units, 1 x PRI, VM PRO on IP office mode, Phone manager pro + iphone manager lics and a remote site with a 403DT using SCN. I know I need to replace the phones and DT Modules along with the 403DT which I can arrange with my maintainer but I need to give good justification to do this. What are the benefits that you guys can think of and is it worth it?

I would agree, Unless there is a V3.1 feature that is bennificial to your organisation there is little point in upgrading

if you then add into the equation the differences between the DT serise handsets & the DS style handsets you will probably end up with a lot of frustrated useres unhappy that thier "Upgraded" phone is lacking features & not as easy to use.

Between 2.1 and 3.1 was 3.0 with the introduction of key and lamp style call handling. So upgrading from 2.1 to 3.1 introduces a very noticeable in their face change to user that requires some re-education just for basic make/answer call. So don't do it unless there is a must have 3.1 feature or Avaya end maintenance support for 2.1.

Ok Thanks guys for your input. I think the if its not broke don't fix it way is good at the moment. I'll wait for Avaya to say they will no longer support 2.1!
