This has probably been bitten to death but still would like to find out perhaps there are better ways to do it. I need to move about 40gigs of data from one server to another. They are both DCs and would like to get the permissision with. I used robocopy in the past. Could I use replication instead? When done have the login script point to the new server?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

ssphoenix, I have migrated file servers with at least 10x as much data using robocopy and was pretty well done in a couple of days. I would start my migration on a Friday night and let it run till Sunday. Then when ready to perform the cutover, I would perform another robocopy that evening (should finish fast) and modify the logon script for those users accordingly
