We're migrating from a NAM to a CallPilot They're attached to different KSU's and they're both up and running.

We want to move our prompts and greetings from NAM to CallPilot. Callpilot shows a way to import them, but I'm not sure how to 'export' them from the NAM. Is it possible? If the answer is Yes, how do I go about doing it? Sadly, I think the answer is NO.

If the answer is NO, our 'Plan-B' is to record them digitally, (call the system from a recorded PRI) and then IMPORT the files into the callpilot after being converted to the right format.

Is there a piece of windows/*nix software that is normally used to transcode to a format that the CallPilot can process?

What is the expected callpilot format? Is it just a standard u-law file? g.729a? Is Callpilot expecting a Nortel-specific 'wrapper' around the file--irrespective of the specific vocoder inside?

If the audio file is 'standard' wonder if I could use any number of free or commercial format translators. Does anyone have experience importing audio files into CallPilot?

Thank you very much!

No, the NAM prompts can't be exported to the Call Pilot. Once you're up and running you can save your greetings to disk in case you need to restore them at some point. I don't know what the format is, some sort of compressed file like a MP3.

depends on the callpilot
if callpilot 100/150 it import the file in the callpilot format *.vbk
i installed the unified messaging for the system on my pc and use the player to convert it from wav file to vbk files
just need to look in the manual for parameters
i think the wav file need to be mono 16 bit 41000

to get the file off the name you will need a recording unit of some kind, i use my laptop and a handset recording coupler

but line recorders will work also

the bcm callpilot can import wav files directly

That's perfect. I can definitely handle that. How do I get my mitts on a copy of the unified messaging application? I wouldn't think I even need a incense or enabler key since I'm not actually trying to connect it to CallPilot.

Am I right about that? OR will it only do the conversions if it's licensed and connected to our callpilot 150 device?

Thanks!

Your right you don't need keys. Check the disc that comes with the call pilot it should be on it.

as cook says it should be on the cd that came with the callpilot
its in a folder -Optional_Software\Desktop_Messaging-

Mike/fireeater.
Our callpilot has 2 unified messaging licenses and no software on the CD. The CD has only electronic documenation.

I've looked around the web but I can't find where the desktop messaging client software it is to be downloaded. The nortel site is no help either. Can you point me in the right direction or somehow hook me up with a copy of this software? I don't mind paying money for it if there's a fee. Like i said, we actually have 2 licenses, so I don't think there's a licensing issue.

The crazy part is that I don't even care about the software except as a workaround for this vexing file import format problem.

Any help is much appreciated.
