Guys

Does anyone know of a way to move Legacy Print Queues from one server to another without recreating the damn things?

Cheers

jbutils can do it

not sure if consolidation wizard does it - i can try that tomorrow

Supposedly, the Consolidation Utility will do it to, but I've never tried it.

Also, I saw a TID a while back that said you can move the Queues folder to the new location and then change the queue object to reflect the change. maybe that's just as hard as recreating them though.

Recreating them is not really the problem ... it's just getting the users to delete and readd printers ......

i'll try it tomorrow - have consolidation on desktop and i have a q that i really dont care about

TheLad, are your users installing printers and referencing them by SERVER\PRINTQ? Why don't you do it by the NDS name, that way if the server changes your workstations don't have to..

They are being referenced by NDS name, but usually you can't get away with deleting a Print Queue and recreating one with the same name - for some reason it just does not work (does it for you guys?). I'll have to get my JRB Utils out and check in there .....

Hmm.. That's interesting.. It's been a while since I've used print queues heavily, but I don't remember it being a problem as long as users were referencing the NDS name.
