I'v got a Oracle archive file system that is currently in a 0+1 RAID array. I have installed additional SSA disk and would like to move this file system out of the striping array to a new VG.

the only way I can think of is to make a temporary file system in the new disks, cpio the Oracle archive, blow away the file system in the 0+1 RAID array, create new VG & LV and finally cpio the contents of that file system back into itself located on the newly installed disks.

Is there an easier way?

Try searching the manuals for the [tt]vplv[/tt] command.

I hope it works!
