I have a DC running dhcp but need to demote it to a member server and perhaps reinstall 2000 server, is there a way to move the dhcp to another machine keeping all of the settings?

Thanks

First, set up a new dc by running dcpromo. Second, sync the two so you have two dc's. Once that is done, demote the first dc using dcpromo on this one. That should leave you with one dc using dhcp. (Make sure you install dhcp on the new one before you demote the old one. Just curious, why are you needing to demote the first one?) Good luck.

I want to demote the forst one because I have tried every thing but still cant get sysvol to replicate I think there may be a problem with the first DC as I only have the domain and ourdomainname.lan folsers with no staging or staging areas folders where I have them on the second DC so I thought my demoting and repromoting it may build the proper sysvol structure and replication may work?

Any ideas
