Mouse wheel does not work on MS Word

I have XP on an emachine.
I have a GE Optical mouse, WK5204.
The scroll wheel will not work when using MS Word.
It works just fine on other programs, and on the net, but just not in word.
Any ideas?

Most mouse control utilities can have different settings for MS Office applications. Look through your mouse control utility for a setting (probably a check-box) related to MS Office applications.

smah: good thought, but there were no settings in the mouse control section of control panel.
Linney: I'm using the driver that came with the mouse.

Can you try another mouse?
