Situation:
Client had an old mouse, PS2, which would "smoothly scroll" when using the wheel. In other words, it would not jump line to line, just a smooth scroll of the page.

Replaced with an optical mouse (Logiteck) and the wheel jumps quite a few lines at a time, not smooth anymore.

Troubleshooting:
-Adjusted all possible mouse properties in control panel
-Tried the old mouse, now that also jumps a paragraph at a time.

Any way to correct this? Thanks in advance!

Can you depress the Mouse Wheel (one click on it) and scroll the page like that?

Were there any drivers that were installed with the new mouse?

See if System Restore will get you back to a restore point before your problem with Explorer.

Try Safe Mode (Do you have this problem in Safe Mode?).

Run the System File Checker program from the Run Box by typing.....Sfc /Scannow in it and have your XP CD handy.
