Another strange behaviour:
Intel Chipset
PIII 500Mhz
512 MB RAM
IBM Microdrive 5GB 2.5" HD
Serial Mouse

When booting the disk reads at normal pace until the booting of win2000 is almost done. Then the servo ticking is slowed down and the system becomes super slow. If I then move the mouse, the HD servo will tick normally and the disk reads seems normal! This is as long as I move the mouse. If I stop, the HD slows down again.
Somehow the mouse interrupts seems correlated with the HD interrupts.
There is no reports of conflicting hardware AND: The computer seems to load fine 50% of the times it boots, but slows down and jams completely after about 10 min.

Anyone?

My guess would be that either the mouse driver or a mouse related utility is the problem. Depending on the sequence of the boot, that determines when or if the problem occurs. I would look online for the latest version of the mouse driver and/or remove any mouse utilities that are set to load during startup. Hope this helps.
