I am running redhat es4 and type to it using a ps2 keyboard
i use a usb mouse , but when i press any keys on the keyboard for an extended amount of time ie 15secs or so the mouse pointer stops moving , i have to logout and backin to x to get the mouse working , or if i unplug then reinsert the cable to the mouse this also resolves it , i have also plugged in two mice and tried the same - once the first one dies the other is still working until i use it for about the same period of time , its a bit of a pain when your trying to game !!

any help !!!

thanks
Sparky

Sometimes systems interpret very long pressing of a key as a request for special operation mode.
I don't have the correct term in mind, something for people with special handicaps.
Accessibility?

Perhaps it's something like that, which might be disabled.

Some keyboard's buffers can get full if a key is continiously pressed. Many computers have a repeat rate setting that can be adjusted.

ok i been testing this a bit - i have gone back to a ball mouse plugged into the ps2 socket and the games work great , apart from the fact its a ball ! , so im thinking its more like a kernel bug some sort of irq request overflow or something. i think this is going to be with my system for a longtime yet.

thanks for the ideas guys i will give them ago
