Mounting tape drives over network for Arcserve use

Greetings All:

Is there anyway for Arcserve to mount a tape drive that belongs to some other server over the network, if that server (with the tape device) has no Arcserve installed on it whatsoever?

In other words, is it possible for Arcserve to use remotely shared tape drives?

no, it is limitation of SCSI

Thank you davidmichel, I understand now.

Fortunately I was able to reclaim the tape drive for NTBackup, the default little gizmo that comes with NT4, I just loooooooove its simplistic user interface, and it runs without a hiccup, AND the most important thing is that the backup it makes can be restored on 2000 servers because the backup software is backwards compatible.
