Hi list,
I have a socket 423 Motherboard 1.5ghz cpu which died on me so I bought a 1.4ghz cpu and installed it, after booting the PC it is saying
" CPU is changed, please re-enter CPU settings in the CMOS"
When I click on F1 to continue it is booting the OS and coming back to the setup screen and saying mhz is out of range.
I can't find any information on VIA motherboards on how to change the CPU settings, please help.

Thanks in advance

This is one of the cases where you need to do a Google on the motherboard make/model so that you can download the manufactures manual for this mainboard.
you may have to pysically look for a model number (usually located in between the lower PCI slots or right of the CPU socket)
These manuals are usually in pdf format so you might need to download acrobat reader to view and print (free download)

Instead of waiting for the "F1" prompt, push delete to enter setup when it first boots up.

Hi there, and after you did what micker377 suggested, change the CPU freq to AUTO and F10 (Save and EXIT) it... otherwise you will always get this message...
