I think I have a dead motherboard and I am not sure what type I should buy as a replacement so that it will work with my processor. My processor is a Celeron 1.3 GHz. The motherboard is a socket 370 with onboard video and sound. All the motherboards I have found say they support Celeron processors up to 533 MHz or 800 MHz or something lower than mine. Will any socket 370 motherboard with onboard video and sound be compatible with this processor or do I need to find one that says it is compatible with a 1.3 Celeron? Thanks in advance for the help.

If you can give us the exact make/model of your motherboard, you'll likely get an answer. The best way is to remove the pc's cover and look for names, numbers or logos silkscreened on the board.

Let us know.

I think you misunderstand the 533 and 800 mhz. That number is the fsb speed inside the proccessor, not the processor speed itself.

As long as it has a socket 370 and says celeron compatible you are set, may need a bios upgrade if its an older board, but new ones will be no problem.

Take care !

A 1.3ghz Celeron is a Tualatin type FCPGA2 processor and you need to find a board that supports these. Most of the last of the socket 370 boards did, but there are more boards out there that do not support this processor than there are boards that do. You can usually get a list from the manufacturer's website

Asus - Gigabyte -
etc...
