Well, at least I think so. System specs:

1ghz Athlon TB
ECS K7VZA mobo
256 pc100 ram
Matrox G400 AGP
3COM EtherFast (or Express, whatever)
Toshiba (some speed) cdrom (Sec. Slave)
Yamaha 8824ez CDRW (Sec. Master)
Fujitsu 2.0gb hdd (Prim. Master)
WD 20gb hdd (Prim. Slave)
OS: Win2kAS

Now, I installed the mobo and everything went off without a hitch. The fsb is at 100mhz to accomodate my ram. So the cpu runs at 750mhz. I'll fix that soon enough, once I get this littl issue out of the way.

The WD hdd is a 7200rpm/ata66 drive. The Fujitsu is lucky it's an ata33.

First boot, error stop, fixed the date, all settings looked good, rebooted. POST was perfect, OS starts to load. Halfway thru the OS boot (win2k advanced server), I get the NT blue screen (much different than the BSOD) that says something to the effect of, to paraphrase: 'Unbootable disk... ...remove new hard drives or hard drive controllers... ...if this is the first time you've received this message, reboot...'

I rebooted, POST was perfect again, etc. Same thing. It will NOT boot the entire OS. I have my guesses, but I really need some help. Does anyone have any idea?

No, I don't think so.
Sounds like a HD problem. You can check the MS KB(whattajoke) for similar error messages.
If I got that message I would definitely think OS
or , on the outside, bad drive settings, or media.

Thanks for the response.

Is there a good chance that a reinstallation of win2k might fix whatever settings have gone awry with the operating system?

Frankly, that's what it sounded like to me. I didn't think it could be a native mobo problem, etc considering it started booting as if everything was normal. The OS boot process just gets interrupted a little more than halfway thru.

I have yet to troubleshoot it further by watching what exactly is failing to load when the OS boots as I sort of need to have it up and running as much as possible. I had to throw the other mobo and cpu back in to cut down the down-time.

Anyone have any other suggestions? If not, I will be doing a middle of the night OS reinstall.. =\ "It's easier to ask forgiveness than it is to get permission." - Rear Admiral Dr. Grace Hopper

Booting the os is interrupted by a controller /disk error... I would make sure that all my physical connections are good , my bios settings are correct my HD master/slave jumper settings are correct, and if none of these pan out, reinstall once for kicks. If that doesn't pan out, it would be off to the MS KB or technet for me.

understood.

My notebbok pc doesn't boot, no post,no video,no beep.
It just turns on and hd spins forever.Could anybody help me?
Please....Is a celeron with mmx 466mHz.
The chipset is FW82371eb - sl37m.
I woul like to know what kind of motherboar is but i don't know how to do.

first thing I could recommend is to look up the company that produced it (dell, gateway, etc), check their technical specs and mobo vender for that model. from that point you should be able to go to the mfr's website and research it a bit more.
