Thinking of making a crossfire computer. which motherboard should i pick? In the past i have bought motherboards from the 3 companies listed and i've been satisfied with each one. so any ideas which one would do more nicely?

darksideleader,

Right now AM2 is well behind Core2Duo, even AMD fanboys will tell you that. Of that group I would eliminate the ECS, Asus has always been my board of choice. I am a little concerned about the dearth of PCI slots on the above boards, but you probably know your needs better than me.

If I could interject a suggestion, the Asus P5WDL-Deluxe recommended to me here has been a thrill-a-minute board, and loaded with features. It accepts Core2 duo/quad and Crossfire.

I have to start by agreeing with wahnula, intel core2 duo is the chip of choice ATM but I would add AM2 is still a good choice if you are choosing a sub $180? processor.
In other words, for a budget to midstream PC them AM2 still represent value/performance.
This does however beg a question......if you are going budget then in my opinion you shouldn't be looking at such high end AM2 motherboards.....??
If on the other hand your funds allow a middling to high end purchase forget AM2 and go with a Intel Core2 CPU.
Whatever you purchase it needs to be a ballanced system, there seems liitle point spending loads on a motherboard if it is installed with a budget low end CPU and viceaversa.

Only in the PC hardware sector could 4 months be considered "old news"...[smile] I have a sister coming to town in a month I am supposed to help her pick out a new laptop...I told her don't bother shopping now as 1 month from now things will be different...and cheaper...and faster. Amazing.

Yeah. When xp64 would not support my year old printer and I called about a driver, I was told that they weren't making one for "legacy" printers. Old indeed.

About the Mobo: I have a Microstar, and I am still delighted. AM2, but I do no real graphics and have a two machine network, so my needs may not be as great. I have never had problems with ASUS, so I'd take either board form Tiger. The MS appears to have an extra USB connection. Never a bad thing. Both have IDE for your existing drives. A good thing.

Few PCI slots are problematic.

I have had nothing but good experiences with Tiger Direct, so I personally would be leaning towards their selections.
