Just finished building my dual comp.
Two intel p3 1.13ghz 512kb cache, and 192mb RAM.
40gb HD, floppy, CD-ROM. 350W PW Supply. All cables are in the right place, triple checked. However, nothing boots. Nothing turns on. Is the mobo damaged or is the power supply damaged? Nothing turns on. Any suggestions?
It's highly unlikely that the poweron switch is damaged right?

Disconnect everything from M/B except power on sw and power connector. Disconnect power from everything else.
Does power supply fan try to move when power is plugged in? When power switch is depressed?
How about hard drive with power and power disconnected from M/B?

Any advice I give is my best judgement based on my interpretation of the facts you supply. Help increase my knowledge by providing some feedback, good or bad, on any advice I have given.

There could be a short on the mobo - that is ONE possibility. With your CDROM connected to the power supply, it should still open and close. That should help narrow down whether it's a mobo or power supply, though it could also be both.

cdogg it depends a bit on the power supply, some wont start if it dont get a connection with the motherboard
i did a BIG blunder once, and used weeks to figure it out
it was on a chieftec chassis, with clip-on "distance nutscrews"(?! whatever they are called, those you put between the mobo and the chassis)
anyway, it turned out that i had put on too many of those, and some of them touched some components on the underside of the mobo

[blush] don't tell anyone

TheGrey,

You're right, that did slip my mind. Can't say I've ever run into the exact same situation, so I didn't think about the connection to the mobo being screwy. Thx for clearing it up... [thumbsup2]
