My hard drive finally crashed for good so I bought a new one. I am going to install win98 se but I do Not have the motherboard drivers. Can anyone tell me how to tell what motherboard I am using or if there is another way of doing this. This is an older system and is running an Intel Celeron 333.
Thanks

when the computer starts make a note of your Bios (AMI, Award,...etc)then visit the web site of your bios and you will find the way how to know your motherboard manufacturer (for example, for AMI you can download a program to identify your motherboard).then vist your motherboard manufacturer to get the ways to know your motherboard model
and then download your drivers.
note to write down the string at the bottem of the screen when computer tests memory because sometimes you need it at visiting bios web site.
hope this helps.

I guess the first thing you should do is to slip one of the sides off and take a look!
Write down anything that looks like a Motherboard Type number, then tap it into google putting motherboard after the numbers and letters.
You be surprised how effective this is bringing up articles and often telling you the make, once you have this, visit the manufactures website and download what you need.
You will find that most of what the board needs will be loaded out of the generic files in windows 98, it will be things like onboard sound, lan, or graphics that will need downloading from the makers website. Martin Vote if you found this post helpful please!!
