Ok, here's the deal. I went for a two day interview at a place and hooked my win98 laptop into their network for about twenty minutes. All of a sudden the guy who was showing me around said it was time for lunch. As I went through the shutdown process on my laptop a little error box popped up. "One or more users are still connected to your computer" Can someone explain exactly what this error is? Was someone snooping my hard drive?

Thanks for the info

If you were connected to this "Network" then the message you got means (in basic english):

"if you happen to be file sharing with someone else on this Network, the act of shutting down will disable any file sharing with other computers until you log back on"

that's all it means. Did you have file sharing on, did you make it clear to everyone that you had file sharing on. If not then no-one would have been snooping around because they wouldn't know to look.

Yeah, you had file sharing on. Yeah, somebody had attached to your system.
They may have looked, they may not have looked.

Yes, file sharing was turned on because of my home network. My 4:30am flight that day did not allow me the brain cells to turn it off. :)

I met one guy there who would have been smart enough to snoop. He knew I was getting on the network. When I logged on (DHCP) and started checking Email, web, etc I noticed the network was CRAWLING... So, It's possible that someone there took a chance and started looking through my hard drive.

Thanks for the help,
