Need some crits and opinions with this. It will be part of a larger montage I'm doing for a guitarist friend of mine. In the second one I've reduced the shadows around the mouth as I thought they were too dark.

Montage, Crits Please

I like it. It has a lot of potential. It looks almost as if the sheet of paper were made out of skin. Not sure if this was the effect you were looking for but it works.
I'd suggest using some grunge style brushes to really add texture to the image as it seems a little too soft and fuzzy in the face. It's like the image wants to be messy but the gaussian blur effect is hampering that. Otherwise, I think it's pretty good. Nice work.

Did you use the Liquify filter?
It does look a bit like Ozzie Osgood on one of his better days!

Thanks for the tip about using grungy brushes Kyle. I'll give that a go. I'm also considering tearing a small section of the paper, and mabye a few ink-spots.
Thanks for your comments mscallisto. Yes I did use the liquify filter to bend the lines of the music score. I think I'm going to redo that layer though. I think there's too many lines of music in the picture. I like the effect where I've really warped the section that goes around his eye and above his eyebrow, so I'll probably cut the number of lines of music below that to about 3, and be a bit less subtle with the liquify tool.
I'll post another one up when I've made some changes.

You might actually consider looking for brushes that ARE musical staffs and notes. That way you get the grung and the notes all together.
