So, I have an Exchange 2003 server current, running on Windows Server 2003 current. The hardware is Proliant DL385 2.4GHz and 2GB RAM with a SmartArray 6404 Ultra 320 controller. The 6 internal 15Krpm disks are 2x36 mirrored for OS and Binaries, the remaining 4x72 are RAID1+0 for logs exclusively. I have an external array of 10 disks (10Krpm) in RAID1+0 on which exclusively resides my mailstores. PageFile has its own disk, SMTP is handled by another server.
Talk about wasted space and cash. My logs are on 135GB array, and my DB is on a 683GB array. Today for example, my logs are almost 1GB, which will be cleared at 11PM with the backup. My mailstores total 52GB.
Anyway, I am having still some performance issues. QueueLength Average can peak around 275, Disk/Sec Read peaks around 100ms - but has been as high as 1sec, Disk/Sec Write is about the same.
This is a tremendous improvement over last week, in this thread:
However, I am still over the recommended MS values. I have 50 users on a system which HP and MS both acknowledge could handle as many as 1000 users.
So the question is: Is there a better way to monitor the interation between Exchange 2003 and Entourage 2004. I have thrown quite a load of cash at this system and haven't yet solved the problem. I have a feeling there is something in the way Entourage's DAV implementation is interacting with Exchange.
Anyway, any ideas would be helpful... Next step is wait for Ex07 and boot it from a FC SAN
