Hi,i'm looking to buy a cheap pc and some retailers have said that i can use my little tv and others not, whats the deal? I'm new to this techno stuff so if anyone can recommend other useful uk forums it would be much appreciated. Also as a first time buyer is it wise to consider the auctions as a place to buy? Cheers

Some video cards allow the use of a TV, some do not. Most not, and TVOut is still fairly expensive for anything with good quality.
I would not use auctions, unless you're very savvy.
The best UK forum (IMHO) is at Cheers,

Don't use your TV, the refresh rate of your TV will give you sucky video even for an email screen and if you don't already wear glasses you will shortly. Try to get a refurb and I don't agree that you have to be savvy if you use an auction. Just do your homework and watch your bid. I rely on it in my line of work.

The UK is full of secondhand 15 and 17 inch monitors as people with money upgrade to 19 inch and LCDs! Buy a copy of one of the cheap PC magazines that are purely adverts. You'll find 15 inch monitors at GBP30 at a store near you. Then go and look for a clean one.
