I would like to monitor license use of server based applications to determine what clients, how many, and for how long are using respective application licenses on a Windows 2K application server. We would like to cut back on unneeded license fees, but don't dare until we have usage data. The application (ArcGIS) does not have any license monitoring tools. Does anyone have any ideas for me?

Thanks.

Sounds like you are a small organization...but SMS 2003 has the ability to perform license management. It can report on how many users are actually using the application. However, you will have to install SMS 2003 and this is expensive.

If you are open to using an inexpensive third party solution, you should try SysTrack from Lakeside Software ( Similar to SMS but at half the cost, SysTrack provides usage reports containing a users usage information. It will track any application in your environment, and report who is using it, when, and for how long.

Good Luck!
