Hi

We have a remote office with an IP Office SOE, the system merly forwards all calls to our main office.

The only problem is that the Telephone Company have had regular problems with the ISDN/BRI line. But because the office is unused it could be days/weeks until we notice.

I have started calling the line daily to check it but this is far from ideal.

Is there any method of being alerted by the system of specific trunks being down, or alternatively is there any method of automatic/continuous monitoring and an 'email alert' if down?

Thanks
B

Yes it is possible
open manager
go to system
there is an option called system events
there you can set up alarm to email

I'd set up a monitor too. I have had two SOE's that need rebooting once a week, we swapped BRI Cards/Firmware the lot.

We ended up having to swap over the unit as it would lock up every week and the customers were not too happy about it.

When you have ISDN problems, try to ask you provider to set up the ISDN circuit configuration to Point to Point instead of point to multipoint.

I had very strange problems with ISDN circuits in point to multipoint configuration.

Thank you for your advice.

Thank you tlpeter: I have setup the SMTP alerts.

TheProvider: thank you for your suggestion, I like the idea of checking if the box is faulty, how do I setup a monitor?

TechnicalUser4: thanks I will as the provider to do so.

Thanks

B

The question is why is it going down, you need to take this up with the carrier after confirming they are at fault. Could be faultly ISDN boxes or incorrect settings on carrier side.

I would be checking as technicaluser4 says the Point to Point configuration.

On my web site download the "ISDN L1 ETSI Line States (BRI/PRI" Document

Look for clock slips and Physical deactavation over a period of time.

PHAI- Physical Activate Indication (i.e. Line is UP)
PHDI- Physical Deactivate Indication (Line is DOWN)

And then provide the carrier with this information if you see the lines going down.
