Hi,

I have 2 boxes (Ultra 80 and Blade 2000) that have the same problem, we just moved into a new building and when I plugged the machines in there is power to the box, but I'm getting nothing on the monitor. It doesn't even get to the PROM. I'm just curious if anyone has seen anything like this before and maybe if some people have some helpfull things to look for. All help is greatly appreciated.

I know this is probably a silly question... Are the keyboards plugged in?

Yes the keyboard is in, one is the standard sun keyboard, the other is usb but both seem to be good.

During POST (Power On Self Test), the keyboard indicators should flash... This will indicate at least POST is running.

Rasslor;

A couple things to try.

One do you know if the systems were set to auto-boot? If yes then try to ping the systems and see if they booted all the way up. If they have booted then telnet in and run eeprom so you can get your nvram settings. Look at input-device make sure keyboard is set, check output-device and make sure screen is set, also check diag-switch and make sure it is set to false(if it is set to true it forces output to ttyA. If these all seem good then I would write down any custom setting you may have for boot-device and nvramrc.

If auto-boot is set to false you could try to hook up another running solaris box to your problem systems using serial ports and null modem cables. Attach cable to serial port A on problem system and serial port b on the working system. Open terminal window and execute command tip hardwire, turn on the problem system and see if you get output. Once you get to the ok prompt run printenv and check input-device make sure keyboard is set, check output-device and make sure screen is set, also check diag-switch and make sure it is set to false(if it is set to true it forces output to ttyA.

Last resort would be to make sure problem system is off,
hold down the stop and the N key at the same time and power on the box. This will set system nvram settings to default, you should then get video output.

Thanks
