When I use the Monitor App I get all of the information about the entire system flooding in. I want to enable some Packet filtering to get more information top send to my Telco, though I want to Limit it to the Information that is specific to the extension that I'm testing with.

Is there anyway to narrow the filter results down to just the Extension?

Click the filter button and choose the most relevant identifier to filter with i.e extn number or hardware or call ref etc depending on what you want to see :)

I Guess I'm not seeing that. I'm running SysMonitor R8 10.0(44)
I hit Filter, Trace Options and I see tons of Check Boxes, not much in terms of filtering something vs things to add to the display.

Its like I want to Check All Check Boxes, and display Everything, though only for the Specific Extension.
SIP Tab has IP Address, though I put the IP Address of my Phone and it does nothing.
Interface has IP Addresses too, I put the IP of my Phone and I get Lots of stuff not related to my Phone.

Thanks,

If you go to system status you can trace all from the extension as you're making test calls. While there's less information presented here, I'm guessing it will help with what you're trying to diagnose.

Why would you try to localise a trace to one extn to send to the telco?

You cant really do that in sysmon. you will need to broaden it a bit and then search for the key parts you are looking for. What is it you are trying to do?

Every once in a while we have an issue with either Dialing a Specific number, or a Caller that calls in and is always dropped.

Many of these issues were never here when we were with the other Telco, though we were using PRI and not SIP. It would be nice to give the Telco a detailed trace of the SIP call and not have to weed through all of the active calls to get the Packets Specific to the Test call that I'm doing.

I've sent over the System Status Call Trace, though I wanted more details on the SIP call.

Thanks,

Within Monitor you can select a phrase like v=213 ( = extension 213 ) and then press F4, a new window opens with all activity of extension 213.
This can be done for SIP or any other message

Thank you intrigrant, this will get me closer!

That's what I meant by the filter button....couldn't remember the key, and I was back to front with selecting the info then pressing it, basically no help at all lol :)

Oh, I thought you meant the Filter Toolbar Icon that brings up the Trace Options. (-; ha!

Thanks!

Oh, forgot to mention: the F4 button only work when monitor is in real time logging state, it does not work for saved logs[sad]

I thought this was common knowledge, it has been mentioned a few times in the past. Do you also know about the Manager broadcast window shortcut keys to highlight and select the system, and being able to right click in the upgrade window to quickly change working directory etc etc, we will have to start an FAQ for such things :)

I have known about the monitor search thing but I haven't really used it since I use sysmondb. But it is a good tip and I may just start to use it or undoubtedly lose it. Probably a good idea to archive undocumented functions across the useful apps. How about a star for you from the idea to start a faq about good ideas?

@ CarGoSki, I have version 3.3 but I read you have V5, can I have a copy of that? In the other forum you can find my details if you're willing to share.
