On our Option 11, we have a Macintosh Computer running iTunes that we are using the line out connected to our MOH port on our Universal Trunk Card.

Listening to the source through headphones the music is brilliant but
on hold" the music cuts in and out and is distorted. I looked at the connection and saw that it was connected strangely. The output of the Mac is stereo. Someone connected the left channel to "tip" and combined the right channel and ground to "ground" to combine left and right to a mono signal.

When I first heard the "On Hold Music" I thought it was an impedance problem. I changed the connection to a stereo connector combining left and right channels to "tip" and ground to "ground". I then ran the signal through a Bogen WMT1A matching transformer connected it's 600 ohm connection to the trunk port.

It helped a bit but mainly just reduced the volume of the distorted signal. Yest I adjusted the source volume to no avail. Is it possible that we have a damaged port?

This is the TNB printout. What else can I look at and is there a feature number I can dial to listen to the MOH port?

Thanks guys,

Scott

Pls dont combine L and R channels - they carry 2 very different signals and that MIGHT be a cause of the distortion
If you have spare port- you can build another port and try it out
it will be the ACOD of route 11 - dial it from a phone

use a single channel, connect a butt set or an analog phone to the tn.. that music is what you'll hear on hold. if your matching the input to the output of the pc, and the output of the transformer is 600 ohms, the music should be about the same quality of a voice call. look at the adjusting timp or bimp, scan the manual, and try auto_bimp to yes. listening to the music on a 600 ohm device will tell you where you distortion is happening. i have ever had a bad analog port that gave distortion. low volume has been solved by pdca or pcml prompts but i don't see those prompts on your trunk.

Hi John and All,

The music source is clean at the TN. Unfortunately I don't have access to LD 14 so will have to contact SBC to check it out.

Here is a PRT of the RDB. If this is the correct route, I cannot dial the ACOD (8011). When I do I get a "Release and try again" busy signal. I did notice that while the trunk type TKTP is MUS, MUS is set to "NO". Is this correct?

Thanks for the help and let me know if you think of anything else.

Always apppreciative,

Scott

mus=no is correct, that prompt is used on a cot tie did route to add mus to that route.. the next prompt for that route is rt, your response would be 11..the targ on that mus route is 1, change the tgar on you phone to any other number (temp) the dial the acod
