MOH Issue

I connected MOH using a CD player and when pressing F86 it plays loud on the phone but you can't hear it when on hold. The volume is turned all the way up on the player and the settings are enabled in the system options?

Your on-hold setting is for "music" and not "silence" or "tones"?

Yes, I changed it back and forth a few times and still nothing? At one point I had a very faint sound of the music, is there a volume setting?

As far as I know, the only volume adjustment for MOH is your music source; in your case, a CD player.

Are you testing the MOH by calling in on a cellphone?

Yes I am calling in from a cellphone and out all lines same issue

It is possible the MOH circuitry is blown, but the background still works.

They feed through the same port...have you ever seen that issue?

I suggest testing MOH by calling in from a landline. Some cellphone codecs have a narrow definition of "voice" patterns for a voice call and consequently "filter" out a lot of sounds. I have run into this, as outlined in this old thread.

The landline test will allow you to either identify the cellphone codec as a potential issue or rule it out and then focus you on your source.

Of course, if it is a codec issue, it will not solve your dilemma for cell callers, but before that is addressed I think you need to determine if your source and KSU MOH circuitry is working to spec.

Here's how I'm connected...Male stereo 1/8 to mono RCA adapter then male RCA from adapter to bare leads onto red/green to nortel port.

I'll try using a different source, iPhone and also landline.

If you hear fine through Background music feature then your MOH port is blown, you need to replace the KSU.

Things like this happen when people hook up the wrong item that do not match the specs and crank that item too loud.

The music source can be any approved low-power device such as a radio
with a high-impedance earphone jack. The recommended ICS input level
is 0.25 V rms across an input impedance of 3300 Ω.

It's working fine now it was the classical music not coming through on a cell phone...referenced post above!

they have a cd player (portable) temporary until i get the moh device in and they just called me to tell me it stopped working I'm assuming its because the cd player repeat wasn't set correctly...thanks for your help
