I have MAS/MSS not integratred wtih Exchange. I need to be able to notify via email when there is a new voice message.

I have allowed smtp relay from modmessaging anything I can look at? MM5.1.

You allowed SMTP relay to what ? If it is not working and you can see it going out in the SMTP log on the MSS then your firewall id blocking it.

to relay mail through from the ip address of the MSS server. not working.

you need to relay it from an SMTP or email server other than the MSS or leave it blank
