I am trying to modify my MSTSC.EXE program so that it disables the "X" at the top of the screen (as per but whenever I update, change, rename, or delete the program, XP seems to automatically regenerate it to its original version.

Is there some way I can prevent this from happening? Is there some other way of disabling the "X" that allows users to disconnect from a TS session?

Have you checked to see if dllcache in system32 has that file in there? If so replace that file before you replace the other.

I looked in c:\windows\system32 but I do not see a dllcache file or directory. Where is this supposed to be?

I also looked in c:\windows\driver cache but did not find the mstsc.exe file in there either.

Its in system 32 you must turn windows hidden files on to see. Go to tools, then folder options, now click view, click the circle beside show hidden files and folders. uncheck the box that says "hide extensions for known file types" and uncheck the box that says "hide protected operating system files. That one will give you a warning and ask if you are sure, just click yes. You will now be able to see that folder
