All,

I need to change my DHCP scope to include the Gateway and DNS of my internal network.

I know I can change this via the DHCP manager, scope + options and add in the Gateway + DNS.

I would like to have a second opinion if my modification procedure is incorrect:

1./ Stop the DHCP server / deactivate the scope
2./ modify the DHCP server to include the new dns and gateway
3./ re-enable the scope, reboot the server.

Would this be correct? I don't want to cause a major catastrophe if I can avoid it.

Thanks for reading,

Luke

You shouldn't need to stop and restart the scope to add those options. Clients will have to reboot (ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew if you can get them to do it. Usually easier to tell users to reboot). They should get the new options with their new lease.

Hi Xemus,

Thanks for your reply + advice. Much appreciated.

Regards,

Luke
