What's the best way to make changes to mandatory profiles? Do I have to make it roaming first (rename to .dat on the server). Then make changes on the workstation, logout, login as admin and "copy to" from "User Profiles"?

We seem to have some icons on the taskbar that come from somewhere other than the user profile (like IE and OE - I deleted them when I created the ptofile) - do you know where they come from?

Thanks in advance.

Hmmm... Bump. Is nobody using them or it was a dumb question? We are a school, so we have to use them. Unless you have better ideas. We also use policies.

If you rename to .dat, logon and make changes and logoff so its saved back then rename back to .man, that should work (all on server of course).

follow wolluf, rename the file for that user user.man, to user.dat make the changes in the profile , log off and save it back to user.man A+, MCP, CCNA

Keep fighting for your knowledge!

You know, I am positive they (roaming .dat profiles) don't get automatically saved for some reason in our setup. Either they don't get saved at all or we get an error on logout about not being able to update the roaming profile (I gave the profile folder on the server the appropriate permissions). From what I've read it should work like in wolluf's post, but it just doesn't.
