We have a new installed Option 81(June 2005).
Voice calls = ok
Fax calls via Falc extns and if anyone has a PC with a modem which uses one of these extn ports, using for instance PC Anyware.
Call connects, then drops out. Or sometimes it stays connected for a whiloe, but is so slow to refresh the page etc, it is virtually unusable.
These calls are connected via 30 channel E1 via twin PRI Cards in loops 4 and 34.
All the switches seem to be correct.
Anyone experience problems on modems on this switch?

not that tight with e1, on t1's bandwidth is limited to 64k but you can get better with compression.. and no, modems and fax machines have never been a problem. i do not know of a prompt that changes for either machine..

Why FALC, are you in Australia? Also with FALC cards are you set up for A-Law in tone and cadence tables?

E1 circuits: Make sure the siginal on the E1 circuits is running clean. Monitor the circuits with test equipment on both sides of any CSU, NIU, or similier equipment provided by the carriers. Some CSUs correct problems like CRC errors so the PBX side of the CSU the signal looks clean but the problem is still there. Review the PBX E1 clocking programming and cabling.

Programming: In the 500 station TN cls there is a prompt for faxes and modems when routing via euroISDN E1s. FAXA or FAXD .

Testing: If possible route calls out other trunks, analog if possible. Would help determine if the E1s are the problem or something else.

another way to see if the problem is internal or external is with an internal fax, then a external fax between the same machines...on this site i fax 1234 then the same fax to 9 424 1234.. see if the problem is at a carrier level

Hello folks,
i recognised the same issues and i found it was a clocking issue, so check if the system ist traking on any E1 in LD 60,
do a ssck 0 and ssck 1 to check that

Clocking was the issue here.(LD60)
It was clocking to the main carrier(BT) in Loop 18.
We switched it to clock off the other carrier(Telewest) and this has cleared the problem.

Many thanks
