Dear All
I have a problem with the usb modem. The system is S8500.I have already installed the patch 12866.I enabled the modem but can be detected by the system.
Can anybody suggest what to check?
Thanks

When you say "Can't be detected by the system", does that mean it doesn't answer, or you are trying to run diagnostics from the web interface and they're reporting the modem isn't available?

If it's the latter, Try restarting the S8500. The USB Ports may have gotten hung up.

If it's the former, use the web interface to enable the modem for unlimited incoming calling.

Use the modserv commands in the linux shell if you had access. I had this problem and using variations on the modserv linux commands did the trick.

Had the same problem. The usb modem should plug into one of the usb connections on the expansion board. Not the usb ports on the 8500.

I MANAGED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I DEACTIVATE AND REMOVE THE PATCH AND THEN REINSTALLED IT AND ACTIVATE IT. FINALLY IT WORKS. THANKS ANYWAY

The modems can sometimes be troublesome. Using the modserv commands can often bring the modem back into service. Additionally, the modem is supposed to be "flashed" to the correct firmware version. If not, Avaya may have trouble accessing the system for support.

modserv -T -v

Will provide the status of the modem.

modserv -off

Will disable the modem

modserv -restore

Resets the modem parameters

modserv -respawn

Will enable the modem for multiple dialin attempts.

NOTE: After enabling the modem, the modem status may take a minute to report that it is enabled.
